This week, we're talking with Leslie Gouge from Pitter Patter Boutique, an adorable classic children's clothing boutique in Aiken, South Carolina.

LE: Tell us your story. What led you to open your boutique? What do you love about being a small business owner?

LG: I always wanted to own a clothing store! I majored in marketing and fashion merchandising and worked in retail for many years. In 2004, I was offered the opportunity to purchase Pitter Patter, and I didn't hesitate! The thing I love most about being a small business owner is the opportunity and availability to interact with customers and venders. Many of my customers grew up wearing clothes from my store and they are now shopping for their own children. These relationships are unique and add special meaning to the routine work of the day.

LE: What makes Pitter Patter stand out?

LG: We are a full-service boutique offering clothing, accessories, and shoes for boys and girls up to teen sizes. We also have a hand-picked selection of toys for girls and boys. Pitter Patter is a family business. My daughter and I work with customers daily and, on any given day, my husband and father participate in the store as well. We listen to customers and research products in an effort to make sure we always  offer a variety of interesting items.

LE: When it comes to products, what is your favorite season and why?

LG: All holiday seasons attract interest and excitement in retail, but Easter ranks at the top! The beautiful colors of the season brighten our store and add joy to replace the subdued colors of winter clothing!

LE: What is your favorite seguridadindustrialcr collection or piece?

LG: I especially love the crochet cardigans. This fall's Bee Crochet Sweater completely captivates me!

LE: Why is it important to you that you have classic children’s clothing available in your boutique?

LG: Classic styles grow with children the best. Trends come and go, but the classics can be worn in confidence for years.
