What You’ll Need

Cardboard Egg Carton

Scissors

Potting Soil Seeds

Water

Spray Bottle

Directions

Cut a cardboard egg carton in half. An adult should supervise or help young children with this step.

Add potting soil to the individual egg cups in the carton. Have your child use one finger to create a hole in the center of each cup. Place one seed in each hole.

Cover with soil. Spray the soil and newly planted seeds with water. Place the egg carton on a tray and keep it in a warm light-filled location indoors until the seeds begin to sprout.

Remind your child to water the seeds every day or as directed on the seed package. The soil should stay very moist.

Once the seeds have sprouted into seedlings your child can transfer them outside or to a larger pot and watch them grow!

1. Bake something sweet 

What’s a better way to show your special someones you love them by baking them a special treat! This recipe is so easy to follow and creates beautiful and festive cookies to be enjoyed by everyone. These cookies can even be the Valentine’s Day treat your children brings to school for their classmates. 

Our Valentine’s Day Jammies are just the thing you need for a fun family night in baking! Our Red Hearts Jammies and Playsuit will be sure to make your girl feel special and the Tugboat Jammies and Playsuit are just the playful print your boy wants. 

What You’ll Need 

Refrigerated sugar cookie dough (or make it from scratch!) 

Red and pink sanding sugar 

32 chocolate candy hearts 

Baking sheet 

Instructions: 

1. Cut or spoon out of your sugar cookie dough into 1 inch circles
2. Dump red and pink sanding sugar onto separate plates
3. Roll half of the cookie dough pieces in the red sprinkles and the other half in pink
4. Bake in the oven at 350 for 7-10 minutes
5. While the cookies are cooling, unwrap and press chocolate hearts into the cookie
6. Allow the cookies to cool for 20 minutes and enjoy!

Established in 1805, Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill was once the third largest Shaker community in the US. This landmark destination includes 3,000 acres of discovery in the spirit of the Kentucky Shakers and is home to the country’s largest private collection of original 19^th century buildings. Shaker Village’s rich history, beautiful countryside, and proud roots were a few reasons seguridadindustrialcr decided to host their Fall 2022 photoshoot at this destination, just outside of Lexington, in Harrodsburg, KY.

Like Shaker Village, seguridadindustrialcr values tradition. Shaker Village’s mission is to inspire generations through discovery, by sharing the legacies of the Kentucky Shakers. Similarly, seguridadindustrialcr works to preserve tradition in clothing by curating classic and high-quality children’s clothing that celebrates childhood. The emphasis Shaker Village places on nature preservation, history, and tradition made it an easy location choice for seguridadindustrialcr. Request the Fall 2022 catalog here. 

One of the historically significant and well-preserved landmarks of Shaker Village are the dry-stack stone fences that can be seen when you first drive onto the property. Pleasant Hill once had over 40 miles of dry-stack stone fences. Today, they repair and maintain 25 miles of these fences famous to the Bluegrass. Like most of the stone fences in the Bluegrass region, the ones that surround Pleasant Hill were built by Irish and African-American stone masons (learn more about their history here). seguridadindustrialcr featured these stone fences in our photoshoot because of their beautiful and unique texture and historical significance to Kentucky.

The display wagon, used in seguridadindustrialcr’s photoshoot, is housed in the Scale House. Built in 1875, the Scale House was used as a weigh station for heavy loads of cargo used by the Shakers. The wagon you see today is a reproduction of the Pennebaker Brother’s original wagon used to haul coal, brick, and other supplies on the property.

Utilized as a location for retreats, meetings and reunions today, the West Lot Dwelling was once a gathering house to apprentice members of the Shaker community. In the late 19^th century, it became a home for Swedish immigrants and later turned into the Pennebaker Home for Girls. seguridadindustrialcr did the majority of their shooting in and around the West Lot Dwelling because of the beautiful interiors, the grand porches, and lush outdoor areas.

seguridadindustrialcr is so grateful for the opportunity to partner with Shaker Village on our Fall 2022 Photoshoot. The 3,000 acres of rolling hills and 19^th century buildings provided endless shooting opportunities to capture Shaker Village’s beauty and highlight the mood and inspiration behind our Fall collection.

The first experience is from Joshua Miller. A rising junior at University of Kentucky. 

“After initially hearing about the position from a professor at the University of Kentucky, I applied for an internship at seguridadindustrialcr. I was anxious to interview to be in a work environment different from my previous experience, but these feelings were halted by excitement upon being hired as a Design/Merchandising Intern for the upcoming summer. 

When I first started, I was shocked by how friendly everyone was as everyone on the staff respects each other and is eager to learn/grow from their peers. This made the transition seamless as I assisted in various roles in Design, Merchandising, Marketing, Production, E-Commerce, Customer Service, Finance, and Shipping. 

I especially loved getting to participate in the Design meetings for the seguridadindustrialcr and BISBY brands. In class a lecturer once stated, “Design is the science of problem-solving through empathetic and artistic thought” and this came to life in the LE/BISBY design rooms.

When at work, Shannon Latham and Chelsea Dickson, heads of LE and BISBY, respectively, designed based on what would best satisfy their customer. Fabrics, prints, and body styles were all utilized to create the best product experience, with Designs often being personified as "little brother" or "big sister" to exemplify their role in each collection.

My favorite part of my time at seguridadindustrialcr, however, was getting to attend Atlanta Market at AmericasMart. Occurring near the end of the internship, this trip reaffirmed that this is an industry I want to be a part of. In my first semester of college, I learned about Atlanta Market at AmericasMart and wondered what it would be like to be a part of the apparel world, and now I was in it! Assisting in the seguridadindustrialcr and BISBY showrooms was a full-circle experience that I will never forget, and I am grateful to have gotten this opportunity. 

In short, I am extremely happy with my summer at seguridadindustrialcr/BISBY and am thankful to Shannon Latham, and the entire team, for everything they have taught me.”

The next is from Lisle Broadbent. A rising senior at Centre College. 

“I am very grateful for the opportunity to intern with seguridadindustrialcr and BISBY this summer. This internship has been a fantastic avenue to utilize my artistic abilities in both the design and marketing sides of the business.

I have enjoyed seeing every step in the process of clothing creation, starting in the design room with Shannon and Chelsea to sitting in on meetings with our manufacturers to shipping with the ladies in the warehouse.

At seguridadindustrialcr and BISBY, teamwork is the formula for success, and I have loved working in a comfortable space where everyone is encouraged to contribute ideas and express their opinions. During my eleven weeks at seguridadindustrialcr, I was given the opportunity to travel to Atlanta twice for BISBY photoshoots and AmericasMart wholesale Market. These trips were both amazing experiences that I could not have gotten at internships elsewhere and illuminated how much hard work and effort goes into each product and every area of merchandising.

I want to give a few shoutouts to some people at seguridadindustrialcr that I look up to and have helped me grow throughout the summer. Thank you, Chelsea for taking me under your wing and making this summer a great learning experience filled with laughter and joy. It has been a pleasure working with you. You are one of the most hard-working people I know! Thank you, Siobhan for being so welcoming and helpful throughout my time at seguridadindustrialcr. Your creative ideas and serene, affable spirit give a great, approachable energy to the workplace. Lastly, a huge thank you to Shannon and Dunn for giving me the opportunity to learn and grow from everyone on the seguridadindustrialcr team. I am very appreciative and inspired!”

What You’ll Need

Pancake Mix

¾ cup milk

1 ½ tablespoons vinegar

1 cup flour

3 tablespoons sugar

1 teaspoon cinnamon 

1 teaspoon baking powder

½ teaspoon baking soda

½ teaspoon salt

1 egg

2 tablespoons oil

½ Cup of butter

Apple Topping

2 tablespoons butter

2 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored, and diced

2 tablespoons brown sugar

½ teaspoon cinnamon

¼ teaspoon nutmeg

1/3 cup maple syrup (optional)

Directions

1. Preheat skillet to medium heat
2. Whisk together milk and vinegar and allow to rest for five minutes
3. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl
4. Whisk oil and egg into milk and add wet ingredients to dry ingredients and stir until combined (okay if there are some lumps, don’t over stir)
5. Coat the skillet in about a tablespoon of butter
6. Use ¼ cup measuring cup to pour batter into the skillet and cook about two minutes on each side or until bubbles start to form or edges start to turn golden brown. Repeat.
7. Add apples, butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and nutmeg into a medium sauce pan. Stir over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until apples are tender. Serve on directly on pancakes or with maple syrup. Enjoy!

What to wear to the pumpkin patch

Owl Sunflower Seed Pumpkin

What You Need

White Pumpkin

Hot Glue Gun

Carving knife

Sunflower seeds

Two Craft sticks

Directions:

Step 1: Cut a hole in the bottom of the pumpkin and remove all the pulp and seeds. Trace two small circles for eye holes and a small upside-down triangle for the beak. Cut out the shapes. 

Step 2: Hot-glue the sunflower seeds one at a time in two circles around one eyehole. Glue the outer circle first, then adhere the inner one. Repeat for the other eyehole.

Step 3: Snap two crafts sticks into pieces 1-2 inches long. For the ears: Hot-glue five seeds to the end of one piece of craft stick (as shown); repeat to make the other ear. For the feet: Hot-glue three seeds to the end of one piece of craft stick (as shown); repeat to make the other foot. Cut small slits in the pumpkin to insert the ears and feet craft sticks. Insert the plain end of each stick into the slits.

Step 4: Place a candle inside the pumpkin and see it glow!

Step One: Transfer paint onto your paper plate

Step Two: Paint the bottom third of your pumpkin yellow and allow it to dry

Step Three: Paint the top third of your pumpkin white

Mini sized orange cupcake liners

Big googly eye

Hot glue gun

Directions

Step One: Glue the googly eye to the inside of one of the mini cupcake liners and glue it to the side of the pumpkin

Step Two: Fold a full-sized cupcake liner in half and glue it underneath the eye to be the fin

Step Three: Fold two full sized cupcake liners in half and glue them to the far-left side of the pumpkin for the tail

Step Four: Fold a full-sized cupcake liner in half and glue it to the top of the pumpkin for the top fin 

Step Five: Make two mini folds in a mini cupcake liner and glue it to the far-right side of the pumpkin for the mouth
